A fascinating look into the long tail of online ads (beyond Adsense). Thanks for that.

Advertise It! sounds fun-tastic, you should give it a go sooner (READ: just do it already!) rather than later.

Few suggestions:

1) keep it simple. You could target contextual ads from the keywords that SBI builders use on the meta tags instead of analyzing the page, because SBI meta tags are usually spot on (or Analyze It! won't approve :) ).

2) You said you've got a ad tech partner in waiting. Also, leverage outside partners to pull advertisers so you have a super-fast turnaround time in terms of getting the product out to the market.

3) Total transparency: prices, revenue split, who the advertisers are etc.

4) Get feedback from SBIers. C2, In my opinion, is not exciting and does not work on my site at all. We weren't allowed to put feedback into that product and that shows, IMO. You should get feedback from the people that are on the "trenches" day in, day out, pulling advertising dollars from every imaginable corner of the advertising world and know what's been working so far.
