So many of us want all the answers and success for our business right now, if not sooner.
And I'm not necessarily talking about SBI!, but about life in general.
But so many of us are not ready to do the work (preparation and execution) required to get there.
In that respect, SBI! is as much a course in personal development as it is in business development.
If the tortoise teaches us anything on these more important concepts, it's all on this page...
To get to where we want to be in business and life takes work. It takes time...
Preparation. Work. Failure. More work, sometimes new directions. Persistence. Execution. Success.
It's hard to take the time to read to prepare since it doesn't feel like we're moving at all... and there seems to be so much road ahead to travel. It's like reading the manual for your new car. Who wants to read when you want to drive down the road? And, in fact, you can drive that car pretty well without reading the manual. That's true for most things you buy.
And then, along comes Site Build It!, and we've been trained by the speed of today's world.... "I don't really need to read this action guide, even if they say so, I'll just figure it out."
Nope. Not when it comes to business. Because this is about the very big, very important, matter of business, not about driving a car or playing your iPod, not even about putting up a site or a blog.
It takes patient preparation to start your business tortoise-style... slow and steady... and surely. Let the hares run super-fast... in 18 directions, starting over and over and over again.
You will do things differently and successfully...
Slow down. Instead of a walk-through, do a crawl-through reading (or view the video version) of the process. If that does the job, you're ready to start walking.
When we want to get it all done so fast, we end up feeling overwhelmed.
The solution is so simple....
Slow down. Prioritize. Do one simple step at a time.
All the best,

Ken, that's excellent advice.
For the last couple of years, I feel like I've been run ragged, trying to do much more than I have time to do and never being able to concentrate on anything for very long before something else has to be done.
I intend to...
"Slow down. Prioritize. Do one simple step at a time."
...and I am in the process of dumping and canceling things that just don't offer the return on my investment that I deserve.
On the other hand, I just renewed my SBI site for another year.
Act on your dream!

Nice post - short and to the point. I am an owner, and on my second site - meaning my first site failed! But I bought again, and have paid an extra year this time, because the failure was my own.
I am now a more thorough tortoise, and I think I will get a small check in October for the work I did for December 07- July 08! And the work continues.
I have felt like I was running a couple of times during this year, and I'm sure I could have done better - or at least someone could have. But on the other hand, I am thrilled that my current success is my own, and that I am making progress, producing a real result!
I feel like having that check framed when it arrives...
But no, I won't. Instead, I will continue to work, adding to my site, working on linking, learning new skills to make it better.
It was hard to start, and hard to fail. But now, I can't wait to keep going, even though slowly, because it's working!

I needed that! I am plodding through day three feeling a little overwhelmed but remembering that if I was building a complex I would be in it for months before I could see any work or profit coming from it. Aye,aye, Cap'n - slow and steady as she goes.

This is one of the things I really appreciate about SBI. "Take it slow. No need for a frenetic pace." I have heard this message over and over again from caring people in all walks of life. You can almost be sure that if someone is advising the opposite (i.e. You better hurry up or the opportunity will be gone.) they are trying to get you to do something that is in their best interest not yours.
Baby steps. Incremental progress. These are indeed the keys to lasting change and sure success. Excellent post.

You know Ken, I've been reading your posts for exactly 1 year and 1 month - since I purchased my SBI site. At that time, I felt the world was falling apart at the seams. So under pressure, I rushed it. I tried to put some nitrous oxide under the hood of my tortoise. And you guessed it, I nearly killed it. So this time, I'm not adding any additive to my tortoise. Thanks for the reminder on this post.
