Hollywood Directors and The Tortoise KISS
Several Case Study SBIers have sent in updates recently. These updates show that their stories are not "carefully selected snapshots, frozen in time." Instead, Case Studies share news of their evergrowing businesses and exciting life changes, in real-time.
There is a paragraph in the latest update from Fiona McCardle and Jim Andrew, who operate a villa rental agency deep in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, that really struck me...

So I thought I'd share it here...

Don't get worried about the latest fads, internet fashions, etc. Do keep up to date with what's going on, but don't start listening to every new idea that comes along.
Any great Hollywood director will still admit that no matter how many special effects and cool explosions you add to a movie, bottom line "storytelling" is what it's all about. Same goes for the internet - people are looking for trustworthy information, presented in a clear simple way. Keep your eye on the ball and don't confuse people.
---------------------------------------------------------
Now, we here at SiteSell do weed out a lot of that noise for you, of course. Still, it's hard not to worry that you may be missing something.
I even see some folks who call SBI! "old-fashioned" because we don't cover the latest hot bell and whistle (most of which will fade away, and those that turn out to be real, we will cover). They mistake old-fashioned with classic, meaning the evergreen needs of people and how to recognize and meet them in ways that build real business, your business.
Focus on that instead of flitting after the "the next big thing" (there's one every day) and you will make real forward progress.
So many people waste time on the latest greatest fad, instead of simply doing what the truly great Hollywood directors do...
Tell a story well. That's what their audience wants.
And, as Jim and Fiona say about your audience...
"People are looking for trustworthy information, presented in a clear simple way. Keep your eye on the ball."
Do the Tortoise K-I-S-S. You can't go wrong.
All the best,
