It's easy and useful to read the "pearls of wisdom" and tips that start in the SBI! Forums and end up in the Tips and Techniques HQ and the Monetization HQ as resource articles. That action alone is enough to give you an edge.
But it takes an acquired skill to get creative with a specific tip... to push it to the next level. The good news is that you can acquire this skill -- we are not born with it. Yes, some people may be naturally more curious and playful with an idea than others. But anyone can look at an idea, strategy, tip or pearl and ask themselves...
"How do I use it? OK, now that I have the obvious idea (and those are the ones that come first), what else can I do? How do I push this to the next level?"
Anyone can do this. It's just a question of never being satisfied, of constantly seeking a better way, of making a non-obvious connection with something else.
So, to all... what else can you do with whatever you happen to be working on right now? This skill is most important when it comes to...
1) Writing -- the beginning of C
T
P
M. Learning to write well is one thing, and it's enough. Learning to push it further, doing "just one more draft," and to add spark and originality? Priceless.
2) Monetization -- the other end of C
T
P
M. You can read the Monetization HQ as a sedative to help you get to sleep at night. Or you can resolve to pick one article, systematically or randomly, and do more than read it. Apply it. And then push to the next level. Do another one the next day or night.
Some of your "next-level" ideas might not work. But...
It only takes one!
All the best,
