Momentum Builds
Ken's Blog
In the SBI! forums, SBIer DaNae (www.smoothie-handbook.com) proudly announced her "1000 unique visitor" day...
"It is amazing to think that I can reach more people in less than a month than the amount in my whole town of 16,000. Thanks to the wisdom of the Action Guide and the friendly SBI forums."
Her quote points out, in a real-life example, one of the massive advantages of starting an online vs offline business. The size of an individual's potential reach is massive (while risk is low).
To this day, I am amazed at how many people we reach from all over the world. For those of us from the pre-Net generation, I doubt that sense of wonder will ever go away.
And this part of DaNae's forum post encapsulates the power of an evergreen Theme-Based Content Site...
"My site traffic grows even though I haven't done much on the site for 6 months since we have been remodeling and moving into our new home. We have just moved in the last of the boxes, so I hope to continue to grow and monetize the site within the next month."
Properly constructed (both evergreen content and a solid, genuine inbound links program in place), the snowball takes over. SBI!'s Content 2.0 pushes it further. As you grow and add some outsourced Virtual Assistants, the only limit to where you can take your growing snowball is your own personal wishes.
DaNae's final observation highlights another important point...
"My newsletter subscription is growing as well. I am almost to 3000 subscribers. I hope to reach 5000 by the end of the summer."
An e-zine is an incredibly valuable asset. Your subscribers represent a core following. At some point, think about monetizing your e-zine with a joint venture or affiliate links, etc.
When you factor in your RSS subscribership from SBI!'s Blog It!, and your Twitter following (if you are niche-twittering)... it all adds up to a large core following who are interested in your business.
Follow DaNae's lead. Everything is in place for her to take that snowball to some places she only dreamed about. Um... once she gets all those boxes unpacked, of course!
The take-way lesson?
The bigger the traffic snowball gets, the easier it is to grow. Momentum builds.
All the best,
